MusubiMaps maps musubi shops in Hawaiʻi and shows current votes. This page explains the information used to run the site.

Accounts and public votes

When you sign in, we store your email address, display name, and profile photo if your provider supplies one. We use these details to identify your account and keep your credits and votes together. Google sign-in requests your basic profile and verified email address.

Your display name, profile photo, and current votes are public on your voter profile. A broad region is public only if you choose to show it. Your email address, unused credit balance, and payment details are not public. A verified account confirms control of that account. It does not prove that every account belongs to a different person.

Regional summaries use current votes. Real account areas are optional and self-reported. Sample resident areas are sampled from Census-based areas; sample visitor areas are modeled stay areas. Residents and visitors appear in separate groups. The summaries describe MusubiMaps accounts. They do not estimate all people in an area. Results are hidden when a cohort, shop numerator, or its complement has fewer than 10 accounts.

Labeled sample votes and profiles are hypothetical records. A sample profile can show its ballot text, evidence flags, and dataset details. Sample records are separate from real accounts, sign-in, and purchases. They do not represent observed customer activity.

Sign-in and payments

Resend sends email sign-in links. Links work once and expire after 15 minutes. Cookies keep you signed in. We store hashed request identifiers and counts to limit repeated sign-in requests.

Stripe handles checkout and card details. MusubiMaps stores a purchase reference, amount, credits, and the account that made the purchase. We do not store card numbers.

Website use

Google Analytics is currently disabled. This site does not load the Google Analytics tag.

Service providers host the site, store account and voting records, send sign-in links, process payments, and manage the domain. The map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives the network requests needed to display them.

Your information

Account, purchase, and vote records remain stored so the site can maintain balances and rankings. To ask about your information or request account deletion, contact mhmotoki@gmail.com. Purchase records may need to be kept to resolve payment issues.
